Melbourne Futures Dreaming Weekend March 31 – April 1

Set amongst the beautiful Albert Park this weekend is a time to get away from normal life, relax and think about the future. Everyone feels uncertain about the future we are creating and by using these processes we feel less anxious about the future and find steps and tools we can use to create the future we want to live in.

From the Saturday we showcase the technologies that will be available in 2020 to the life that could be possible, we then move to the personal relevance. Choosing issues that are close to your heart you look through the futurist literature to scan for weak signals of trends that are possible for 2020. We then answer the important strategic question: ‘so what?’ By linking the implications of possible trends we build a space to create diverse scenarios by developing your futures antennae. We then list trends that life is moving toward by 2020 across numerous topics for the World. We then use the uncertain and high impact trends to build possible scenarios for the World in 2020. From here we spend the afternoon creating these scenarios into the daily life and communities in that scenario for 2020. From the house they live in, to the food they will be eating, to the work they will be doing, to the family life they live with, and the things they do to entertain themselves.

This then moves to the Sunday where we create an interaction between the numerous scenarios and we experience what is to live in each of the scenarios for 2020. We then backcast to the present using the optimum scenario and see the steps and things we need to do to get to that scenario. We then reflect on the weekend that was and see what we gained from the experience

We hope to see you in Melbourne helping to the create the Melbourne and the World that we want to live in, in 2020.
